Ash-Worth Time Bank Rural Wellbeing

Ash-Worth Time Bank have been helping older people in rural Cheshire since 2004 and have helped vulnerable and lonely people in 14 villages.  They encourage local people to share their skills and time with other members of the community.  Time banking enables people to live independently and helps to tackle loneliness and isolation.  They have a network of over 450 people linking together to share their skills and time.  Membership of Ash-Worth Time Bank is totally free as are all services.

Beat the Darkness

Do you or someone you know suffer with a mental health issue?  Beat the Darkness are creating a place for people to feel safe, to chat and socialise without judgment.  You can join them  on the last Tuesday of every month at Delamere Community Centre 5.30-7.30 pm.  For further details please e-mail: beatthedarkness@gmx.com 


Breathe Easy (British Lung Foundation)

Breathe Easy groups provide support and information for people living with a lung condition, and for those who look after them.

Groups hold regular meetings, usually monthly. People can meet and to talk to others, share their experiences and learn from each other. Regular speakers can also share information about living with their condition and coping with the emotional aspects of having a lung condition.

South Cheshire Support Group – Meet at Eagle Bridge Health Centre on the last Wednesday of the month from 2pm.


Buddy & Befriending Service

If you are aged 18 or over and living with loneliness or isolation The Buddy & Befriending team at Changing Lives Together will match you up with a friendly ear who would love to chat to you every week. Refer yourself or a friend today!

Chapter – Mental Health

A new monthly evening wellbeing group, called Belong starts on Wednesday 6th September 2023 in Tarporley and then on the first Wednesday of every month. This is for anyone over the age of 18 who is experiencing mental ill health and would like to engage with others.

Patients can self-refer via the Chapter website or you can contact Sally Challoner who will be running the group –  sally.challoner@chaptermentalhealth.org

Dementia Café

Dementia café at Tarporley Community Centre on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Drop-ins welcome.

Information and advice in a relaxed setting for people affected by dementia.  Your local dementia cafe provides a safe and supportive place for you to:

  • discuss your own dementia diagnosis or someone else’s and think about what it means for the future
  • get answers from health and social care professionals and other voluntary organisations
  • meet and learn from other people in similar situations

The Early Help Navigator Service can help families find out what support is available in their area. Offer general help, support and advice. Signpost to local and national services.


Healthbox

Healthbox are a not-for-profit community interest company with the mission of promoting health and well-being.

They prvide a variety of services including Social Prescribing, Falls Prevention and Mental Health.

They have a variety of workshops, which are free to attend of you live in Cheshire or Wirral. 


 

Kelsall Wellbeing Hub

Kelsall Wellbeing Hub is a community funded charity set up to help the people of the village and surrounding parishes. Their aim is to bring people together. Parkinson’s Café, Tarporley

Are you or anyone you know affected by Parkinson’s? Would you like to meet others for a chat? You will receive a warm welcome at the Parkinson’s Café Tarporley.

Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month 1.30-3.30 pm in the School Room at the Baptist & Methodist Church on the High Street.

parkrun – Delamere Forest

Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5 km timed runs in pleasant parkland and surroundings. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. Our nearest run is Delamere Forest.

The Chief Medical Officer’s advice is for ALL adults to get at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity or 75 minutes of high intensity activity per week – and just 10 additional minutes can make a clinical difference, reducing the impact of chronic health conditions.


Rural Community Services West Cheshire

Rural Community Services West Cheshire (RCS) is a local charity who provide a range of services for older people in the rural communities of West Cheshire.

Services include:

OPAL Clubs (older people at leisure) – clubs for older people who are finding it difficult to get out and about to take part in social activities in their community without support.

Opal Carer Suport Services available to carers living in rural west Cheshire who are aged over 60, or who care for someone who is over 60.
