Ash-Worth Time Bank Rural Wellbeing

Ash-Worth Time Bank have been helping older people in rural Cheshire since 2004 and have helped vulnerable and lonely people in 14 villages.  They encourage local people to share their skills and time with other members of the community.  Time banking enables people to live independently and helps to tackle loneliness and isolation.  They have a network of over 450 people linking together to share their skills and time.  Membership of Ash-Worth Time Bank is totally free as are all services.

Beat the Darkness

Do you or someone you know suffer with a mental health issue?  Beat the Darkness are creating a place for people to feel safe, to chat and socialise without judgment.  You can join them  on the last Tuesday of every month at Delamere Community Centre 5.30-7.30 pm.  For further details please e-mail: beatthedarkness@gmx.com 


Breathe Easy (British Lung Foundation)

Breathe Easy groups provide support and information for people living with a lung condition, and for those who look after them.

Groups hold regular meetings, usually monthly. People can meet and to talk to others, share their experiences and learn from each other. Regular speakers can also share information about living with their condition and coping with the emotional aspects of having a lung condition.

South Cheshire Support Group – Meet at Eagle Bridge Health Centre on the last Wednesday of the month from 2pm.

Brightlife

Chapter – Mental Health

A new monthly evening wellbeing group, called Belong starts on Wednesday 6th September 2023 in Tarporley and then on the first Wednesday of every month. This is for anyone over the age of 18 who is experiencing mental ill health and would like to engage with others.

Patients can self-refer via the Chapter website or you can contact Sally Challoner who will be running the group –  sally.challoner@chaptermentalhealth.org

Dementia Café

Dementia café at Tarporley Community Centre commencing Tuesday 11th April 2023 at 11.30am-1pm and then the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Drop-ins welcome.

Information and advice in a relaxed setting for people affected by dementia.  Your local dementia cafe provides a safe and supportive place for you to:

  • discuss your own dementia diagnosis or someone else’s and think about what it means for the future
  • get answers from health and social care professionals and other voluntary organisations
  • meet and learn from other people in similar situations

Neuro-Therapy – Access to Exercise

Did you know that physical activity, even in small amounts, can help people living with neurological conditions to manage chronic symptoms? Not only this, but exercise can be an empowering tool to improve and support everyday life.  As part of their Access to Exercise programme, Brio Leisure are working in partnership with The Neuro Therapy Centre to develop activities across Brio Leisure centres that are tailored to those living with neurological conditions.

parkrun – Delamere Forest

Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5 km timed runs in pleasant parkland and surroundings. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

The Chief Medical Officer’s advice is for ALL adults to get at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity or 75 minutes of high intensity activity per week – and just 10 additional minutes can make a clinical difference, reducing the impact of chronic health conditions.

We are delighted to announce that we have become a parkrun practice. Our nearest run is Delamere Forest.

Rural Community Services West Cheshire

Rural Community Services West Cheshire (RCS) is a local charity who provide a range of services for older people in the rural communities of West Cheshire.

Services include:

OPAL Clubs (older people at leisure) – clubs for older people who are finding it difficult to get out and about to take part in social activities in their community without support.

Kelsall OPAL Club

Opal Breaktime Plus is a service that provides carers in rural west Cheshire with carer breaks and opportunities to take up new interests or reconnect with past ones.


Self Management Courses

Self-management can support people with any kind of long-term health condition.  The programme aims to provide you with the skills and confidence to manage your condition better on a daily basis. It will help you work with your doctor, nurse or other health professional to regain more balance and control in your life.

  • Offers practical solutions to the challenges of day to day life with a long-term condition
  • Helps you make the most of meetings with the health care team
  • Invites you to work towards goals you identify in the management of your condition
  • Enables you to work with your health professional to prepare an individualised plan for managing your condition

The programme is run over 6 weekly sessions with each session lasting 3 hours. It is facilitated by trained tutors, who both live with a long-term condition/s.

  • Meet others and share similar experiences
  • Increase your confidence in the daily management of your condition
  • Feel more able to work together with health professionals as an equal partner
